Behind the Construction

One of the things I'm looking forward to and dreading at the same time is re-watching my entire anime collection to do the reviews. I'm looking forward to it as it's been a long time since I've had them and finished watching them. But I'm dreading the task because it's gonna take a long time to complete the job. Plus, I'll naturally prioritize new animes and that will slow things down. ^^"

But thanks to you guys for all the support and encouraging words, especially my colleagues, desu kara ganbarimasu! (^o^)/

Recently I watched Kara no Kyoukai (movie 4) but I didn't really like it. But maybe that's because I've totally forgotten what happened in the previous movies, so I will not do a review on that. I'll rewatch the movie series right from the start and see if the feeling is still the same. Give it the benefit of doubt eh? I've decided to get on with the reviews and decided to start with The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. To be honest, I haven't finish watching the series since I bought it some time ago. I watched a couple of episodes and thought it wasn't so bad but it wasn't so great to me either. And then came some more new animes and I've just been putting it off since. =.="

But I managed to finish the first episode before I slept last night. I'm sorry I can't go any faster, my job takes up a lot of my time. But I'll work on a double during the weekends to get this done. Bear with me okay? Muahs~

Otaku Way of Learning Japanese

Learn Japanese the otaku way!

These charts are the results of the sweats and efforts of na-insoo and starshock12 of DeviantArt. I realized there are some mistakes with the names and they seem to realize it too. But what the heck, it's a good job anyway and we all still love it!

文化祭 Bunkasai (Japanese Cultural Festival)

One of the perks of working with a youth event company is; I get access to info on various events without having to do all the digging. Now, as we all know, anime or Japanese events in Malaysia are scarce. The few big ones are namely ACGC and ComicFiesta. The rest are small here and theres, but still worth checking out.

We have two bunkasais coming up this March. Bunkasai is an annual event held by most educational institutions in Japan for students to show off their achievements. It is a much looked-forward-to celebration where classes are in charged of performances, booths and other activities. The institution will also be open to public visitation. It is an opportunity for most to mingle and socialize.

If you want to check out how a bunkasai atmosphere is like, you can head to the followings:

Bunkasai Night
    College: UCSI University
    Date: 5th March 2009 (Thursday)
    Time: 1PM - 11PM
Venue: UCSI University North Wing Campus, Taman Taynton View, 56000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Activities: Cosplay, performances, lucky draws, anime appreciation and Japanese cultural games
Extras: Registration for cosplay competition ends 2nd March 2009

Japanese Cultural Night 2008/2009
    College: MMU Cyberjaya
    Date: 5th March 2009 (Thursday)
Venue: Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), Multimedia University (Cyberjaya Campus)
    Theme: Japanese Zen Garden
    Activities: Exhibitions, performances and games

It's time to take that kimonos and yukatas out again my friends~ (^^,) It'll be an interesting chance to gain more insight to the culture that has long intrigued us all.

Fruit Drops (Grave of the Fireflies)

I happened to come across this at my favourite junk food vendor opposite GSC Midvalley. I was just browsing through, deciding if I wanted anything else other than sour tapes when I saw this in a basketful of Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse tin can sweets. It's the only one of its kind in the same basket. So I quickly bought it without much thinking. It costed me RM16, but I think that's pretty cheap considering the value of the thing. I don't think the vendor knew it though. Good for me!

It looks totally the same doesn't it?

I can't stand it! I could remember every single scene in the anime, how she loved the fruit drops.

It even has the fruit drops inside!

By the way, did I mention that the fruit drops aren't fruity at all they're minty! @_@ And the cap is so tightly sealed I had to use a mini pliers to uncap it. I guess that's how the fruit drops lasted to this century through WWII. O_o

土屋アンナ (Anna Tsuchiya)

The first Anna Tsuchiya songs I heard were actually tracks from Nana. In the television animated series, Anna sung for Oosaki Nana of Blast. I loved all her songs in the anime especially Kuroi Namida which could reduce a normal person to tears (I'm a bit stone-hearted but even so, it touched my heart). So I looked her up in Youtube which lead me to the discovery of her Blood of Roses Tour. Since then, I've been an avid Anna fan.

This 24 year-old is a multi-talented girl with modelling, acting, and recently, singing in her portfolio. She has received great acclaim from the film industry, and won various film awards including the Japanese Academy Award for her role in Kamikaze Girls in which she co-starred with Kyoko Fukada. She was noticed as a singer after Nana tracks topped charts in Japan and her singing career kicked off with the released her first album, Strip Me? in August 2006.

What first attracted me to Anna was her unique sultry voice. It goes very well with the rock songs she sings. But what turned me into such an avid fan was when I got my specially ordered Blood of Roses Tour DVD and saw her live performance. Unlike most singers, Anna can actually sing live without much deviation from her recorded songs. Try to listen to her albums, she's simply amazing. Plus, she's so beautiful it has got to be a sin!

Shoukai shimasu!

Yokoso! Welcome to Chika-Chin's AnimeMania! Hajimemashite, watashi wa Chika-Chin desu~

Saying that I love anime is an understatement. I've been madly addicted to anime since the days of Sailormoon the Meatball Head. *^^*

Today my interest in anime has taken a wider scope. I watch everything and anything; as long as it's good. I buy strictly original anime DVDs only too - support the senseis! \(^o^)/

Since you're reading this, I bet you're a fan yourself or will soon become one. Watch out for the symptoms. It usually includes: increased TV time (to watch anime), increased spending (to buy anime or anime-related items), or worse, relating real life to anime. Then you know you're an otaku for sure! ^o^

Join the mania!
